Artist’s
Statement
This piece evokes
the feeling of walking through a silent pine forest on a wintry
day. Snow is softly falling on the pines that are already
frosted with and laden with a light dusting of the powdery
flakes. The interplay of green and white, along with the natural
warmth of knotty and clear pine wood, brings a relaxing, soothing
sensation. “Walk” through this sculpture with
your eye and let the sensation sooth and relax you.
Snow Falling on Frosty Pines is a hybrid
of my painted “cubonic” (cube-based sculptures)
work and my natural wood wall sculptures. I infused a bit
of color (frosted pine green and frosty white) as a balance
to the unstained pine lattices and ingots. The marriage is
quite a natural and complimentary one, I think. Neither element
dominates, but they work together to evoke a harmonious theme.
This sculpture can be hung either horizontally or vertically.
