Artist’s Statement

As I completed this piece, the colors and layout evoked a scene in a local coffee house. There, a customer is slowly stirring cream into their hot, steamy mug of green tea. Like the drink, the sculpture gives a warm, soothing feeling. The colors and design all contribute to this sense, so drink up (with your eyes, in this case), and enjoy!

Green Tea with Cream is my second foray into “cubonic” sculpture – the name I have given to sculptures that incorporate cube shapes. I chose a palette of colors that warmly complimented each other, and let them play off each other within the cubes in the piece. The pine lattices are heartily constructed, and make dimensionally appropriate platform for the cubes. This piece can be hung either horizontally or vertically, as your space requires.
