Artist’s
Statement
At the
peak of every clean wave is a place where the ocean meets
the sky. It’s a place where the deep blue meets the
sky blue. It’s the lip. And what’s the lip for,
you ask? Why did God create such a place? Well, to be ripped,
of course.
Rippin’ the Lip is a freeze-frame memorial
to all those guys and girls who play where the oceans meets
the sky. The gash in the face of the wave shows the origins
of this surfer’s sky-defying power. A deep planting
of the right foot and a contortionist-like twist of the upper
body complete the rip. With this rip, there’s no sound,
just crazy spray and pure adrenaline. It’s all about
the right mix of finesse and power, control and wildness,
and ocean and sky. Get stoked!
