Artist’s Statement

Love Comes Home was inspired by the wonder-filled moment when a couple first brings their newborn home. What sort of emotions color this moment? Exhilaration? Awe? Fear (at the immense responsibility)? Joy? Adoration? Love? In reality, it’s probably a mix of all these and more!

So many people are blessed by God with the ability to have their own biological children. For them, bringing home a little version of themselves as the “fruit of the womb” is an immense joy. For other couples, infertility becomes a subject of heartbreak and frustration. But these too can experience the indescribable joy of bringing love home through adoption. Through adoption, a couple can uniquely reflect God’s love in adopting those who trust in Christ as sons and daughters in Jesus. God’s adopting ways are shown in Galatians 4:5-6 in the Bible:

God sent Jesus to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law of God, so that He could adopt us as His very own children. And because you non-Jews have become His children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, and now you can call God your dear Father.

Adoption is a God-like thing! And what a joy it is! This sculpture is a meek attempt at capturing that joy in the expression of a couple with their new little baby.
